Final piece

This was a very interesting project, and challenging as well .

The worst part of  project was having to solder the filigree,as i am not experienced enough. It was challenging to make such thin wire and make even twists.what i liked was making the piece 3 dimension and building layers on a piece

Design development

Circus cannetille/filigree piece

Design process from inspiration

From the clowns suit, i took the negatives and manipulated them by cutting the inside shapes to create space.I also did repetition of these shapes and mirror them  to create symmetry and solid looking piece.I made a prototype out of paper to explore my design further

Circus

I chose the pattern on the clown's outfit that looks like teardrops(chest),I then manipulated these shapes into double images as a negative and positive space.I chose these patterns because of the arrangement and the variety of sizes, interacting and overlapping repetition it has.

'The Mech'

Greebles

This is the arm piece i designed, based on a theme 'greebles'.greeble is a fine detailing added to the surface of a larger object that makes it appear more complex, and therefore more visually interesting.

Fictional body piece

He was a father, a husband, a community leader who loved his job. He has been a soldier all his life. Many soldier looked up on him, as he was a captain of South African military force. He knew everything about the history of the world, from art, science, computers and even gadgets.
One day as he was looking through his files in the office, he came across a file that caught his attention. He quickly drops the other files on his hands to look at this big brown envelop, he could not believe his eyes. The time had come; he spent half of his life studying about alien weapons. As he was busy with this file he heard a massive terrifying sound in the sky, only to realize that it was an alien space ship destroying the city. He quickly got up to warn soldiers about what was going on, but it was too little too late.
The atmosphere was starting to change, the day light started to fade and there was a smoke everywhere. Soldiers are giving anything and everything to defeat their enemies. But the aliens were taking over; they were strong, fearless and powerful. It was bad as network and electricity cables were destroyed, he knew what was left for him. It was time to get underground where the weapons are stored. They are fighting with their lives, but their weapons just don’t stand a chance as the aliens are fighting with computerised weapons. It was time to check the weapons that he had been doing research on all these years. This weapon is a gun which is connected to the brain, and it calculates the distance between you and an enemy.

Also gives signals where your enemies are hiding. He was killing and slicing aliens.
